Student Housing
Built in 2017, FVCC’s student housing in Founders Hall offers comfortable single and double bedroom units with full kitchens and bathrooms at competitive rental rates on campus. All units are equipped with secure entrances.
The living space also features coin-operated laundry facilities, private study and meeting areas, community spaces, and free parking. Safe walking paths allow residents easy access to the rest of campus, as well as to nearby stores and restaurants.
Room assignments are offered in order of application completion. All completed applications will be placed on a waitlist until guarantees/room assignments are made.
For applications to be considered complete and placed on the waitlist, the applicant must submit an application and pay the $200 application fee/security deposit to the FVCC Business Office. If we are unable to secure waitlisted applicants a spot or the application is canceled, this fee will be refunded. The application fee can be paid in three ways:
In Person
Business Services in Blake Hall, Room 132
By Mail
Residence Life, Flathead Valley Community College

By Phone
Call Business Services at 406-756-3831 to pay the application fee over the phone.
Fall semester assignments are made at the end of July, Spring semester assignments at the start of January, and Summer assignments at the end of April. Room assignments are completed on a first-applied, first-assigned basis. Unless applicants specify their desired roommate, we will assign roommates based on responses to the personal preferences section of the application form. We typically do not pair roommates who are opposite sex or romantically involved. We are not able to accommodate children or families.

Student Housing Frequently Asked Questions
Go to the On-Campus Housing page of the FVCC website, scroll down the page, and click the application link for the academic year you wish to enter housing. Complete and submit the online form. Your application will be considered complete and will be processed once we have received the completed Student Housing Application & Agreement and $200 application fee (which will convert to a $150 deposit and $50 non-refundable application processing fee when you move into the Residence Hall). To pay the fee/deposit, you may mail a check or money order Residence Life, 777 Grandview Dr., Kalispell, MT 59901; or call FVCC Business Services during business hours at 406-756-3831 to pay the application fee via credit card; or pay in person at the Business Services desk in Blake Hall.
No. However, housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date on which both the application form and the housing deposit are completed. The earlier you complete both these steps, the better your chances of getting a guaranteed spot in student housing.
Applicants are added to the waitlist for housing once they have submitted their application and paid the $200 deposit to business services. Your place on the waitlist is determined by the date on which you completed both the application and the deposit—the earlier you did this, the higher you are on the waitlist.
Students will begin receiving notifications in May for Fall semester housing assignments, and in December for Spring semester housing assignments.
Single studio apartments are in high demand and go quickly when spaces open up. If we can place you in housing but no single studio apartments are available, we will offer you a spot in a two-bedroom shared apartment. You will have the opportunity to cancel your application if you are not satisfied with your housing assignment.
You can cancel your application by submitting a Cancellation Request Form. Applicants who cancel before the stated housing commitment deadline will receive a full refund of their $200 application fee/deposit. Failure to cancel the application by the commitment deadline will result in a $150 refund and will also require the student pay the entire semester’s rent (unless FVCC Residence Life can fill the apartment with another student).
Yes, depending on the amount of your overall financial aid package. If your net credit after paying your tuition and fees is enough to also cover your housing costs, then your aid can cover your housing costs.
No, if you have enough aid that covers your entire bill including rent, then you do not have to come up with your rent costs. If this is your situation contact FVCC Business Services right away to let them know. You can find their desk in Blake Hall or call 406-756-3831.
Priority for student housing is given to students enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits per semester (except for Summer). Part-time students are eligible to live in the Residence Hall as space permits. Dropping to or below part-time status from full-time status does not automatically cancel a housing contract.
If you are registered for at least 12 credits for the following Fall, you do not have to take classes to stay in student housing over Summer. If you are taking less than 12 credits or will not be a student in the following Fall, then you must take at least 3 credits to stay in student housing over Summer. Please keep in mind that if you rely on financial aid to pay for student housing costs, this aid may not be available to you during Summer and you will still be required to pay housing charges. Contact finaidinfo@fvcc.edu for more information and to inquire about the status of your financial aid.
You are agreeing to abide by the terms, conditions, and policies as outlined in the Student Housing Application & Agreement and the Student Housing Handbook.
No, FVCC does not provide meal plans. However, students may choose to purchase breakfast and/or lunch in the Eagle’s Nest located in Blake Hall. Students may also purchase coffee beverages and pastries at Common Grounds Cafe located in the Library.

Although Montana state law permits the use of medical marijuana, federal laws prohibit marijuana use, possession, or cultivation at educational institutions which receive federal funds. If remediation strategies fail, a room change may be possible, depending on room availability. All room changes need to be approved by the Residence Life Coordinator; no room changes will be made before the seventh day of classes.
Students may entertain guests in their rooms during visiting hours provided that the rights of the other students on the floor, and in particular their roommates, are not violated. Residents are responsible for the conduct of their visitors/guests and must remain with them at all times.
