Nursing programs at FVCC provide a wide variety of options to enter the field of nursing - from Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to Registered Nurse (RN) via an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) to Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) partnership options, there is a program for anyone interested in entering the field.
Important Information about Nursing Programs
Nursing admission at FVCC requires an additional application process and pre-requisites.
FVCC's Nursing programs have limited enrollment capacity, and entry is competitive. Applications are reviewed and accepted based on criteria in the FVCC Practical Nursing (CAS) or Registered Nursing (ASN) application packets.
Application packets open January 1st of each year.
Nursing Education Options
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
CNAs provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. This five-credit class prepares students to take the CNA certification test approved by the state of Montana.
Registered Nurse (RN) / (ASN)
Earn an ASN degree in five semesters. RNs assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. RNs may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / (CAS)
Earn a CAS in practical nursing in three semesters. LPNs care for ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled persons in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions.
Nursing Transfer Preparation
The partnerships FVCC has with other college and university nursing programs prepare students to transfer to other institutions to earn bachelor or associate degrees in nursing.
