CARES Act Funding
CARES funding is available for degree-seeking students enrolled in Spring 2023 courses at FVCC. All degree-seeking students taking 9 credits or more are eligible and funding is based on the number of credits each student is enrolled in and their financial need. A short, free application is required to receive funds.
To provide direct financial support to students, Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) has received $1,866,979 in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) through the CARES Act to help ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. FVCC has developed a grant program to award these funds to students called FVCC CARES.
These funds are intended to help students with the following types of expenses:
- Tuition and fees (including student account balances owed)
- Housing and food
- Course materials
- Technology-related costs
- Health care
- Transportation
- Childcare expenses
Federal regulations require that students with exceptional financial need, such as those eligible to receive Pell Grants, receive priority. FVCC is utilizing the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), an index number used to determine student eligibility for federal student financial aid, from the 2022-2023 FAFSA to determine priority. COVID-19 Emergency Student Fund
FVCC established a COVID-19 Emergency Student Fund in March 2020 through the CARES Act to assist currently enrolled students who were experiencing a financial hardship as a result of the pandemic to pay for basic necessities, including housing, food, and health care costs. At this time, funds for the emergency grant have run out.
