STEM Colloquium: A Career in Science Communcation

Join us for this week’s STEM Colloquium for “A Career in Science Communication”, a presentation by Berly McCoy, Ph.D.

Berly McCoy will talk about what she does as a science podcast producer and what led her toward this career path. She’ll also provide a big picture look at the diverse field of science communication and some of the available careers.

Berly is a producer for Short Wave, National Public Radio’s science podcast. She earned her Ph.D in biochemistry from Indiana University after transferring with her advisor from Montana State University. She completed her undergraduate degree at Western State College of Colorado with a double major in cell biology and biopsychology with minors in chemistry and philosophy. She started her college career in St. Louis County at St. Charles Community College. After finishing her PhD in 2018, she moved into science writing and eventually science audio work.
