STEM Colloquium: Solar Maximum and You
November 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join us for this week’s STEM Colloquium for “Solar Maximum and You” a presentation by David W. Hembroff, former Space Weather Officer.
The sun runs through an eleven year cycle of activity. At its peak, solar maximum, the number of sunspots and coronal mass ejections increases dramatically. Although protected by our atmosphere and the Earth’s magnetic field, our daily lives can be impacted by whatever the sun sends our way. This presentation will cover some of the basics of solar activity types and the potential impacts to geo-based systems. Are you prepared for an angry sun?
