Fiya Grill Wins First Place in Best Food at the Fair
For the second year in a row, Fiya Grill has won first place in the Best Food at the Fair competition at the Northwest Montana Fair & Rodeo for their Jamaican Jerk Chicken served with rice and beans.
Fiya Grill beat out 15 other contenders to take the blue ribbon.
Chefs Dan Moe and Michaella Evert along with three graduates of the Culinary Institute of Montana at Flathead Valley Community College served as the judges and spent several hours sampling entrees, desserts, beverages and more.
“I’m glad to see more vendors coming with different options that you don’t traditionally see at the fair,” judge Evan Steckler said.
Second place in the competition was a tie with Farm to Table Ice Cream’s root beer float and Flathead Flavor Espresso’s strawberry lemonade. Third place went to D&T BBQ for its bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos.
The Northwest Montana Fair & Rodeo is happening now through Sunday, Aug. 20 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds. For more information about the events planned, visit www.nwmtfair.com.
