FVCC Earns ‘Military Friendly’ Designation
Flathead Valley Community College has earned the 2023-2024 Military Friendly School designation again for the fourth consecutive year.
The Military Friendly Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly Schools survey from participating institutions.
FVCC offers a wide array of free support to service members and veterans through the FVCC Veterans Center. The center assists student veterans and military family members with accessing their VA benefits and softening the transition from military life to civilian life.
The college participates in various programs designed specifically for veterans including but not limited to: Yellow Ribbon Program; Veterans' Upward Bound; and Section 702 of the Veterans, Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014.
Carla Genovese, FVCC Nursing Program Director, was recently presented with the Patriot Award from the Department of Defense, Guard and Reserve, for her outstanding support of military service members on campus and their families.
“I’m honored to support the mission of our FVCC service members and their families however I can. It’s never a question or discussion of ‘Should we help?’ but always, ‘How can we help?’” says Genovese.
Also on campus, the FVCC Veterans Association is a service support-oriented student organization with the primary objective of developing a foundation of understanding between veterans and non-veterans. Organizational activities have included active support of the Montana Veterans Home, bi-weekly meetings, fundraising, direct support of other student organization activities and internal social events.
All students, veterans and non-veterans are encouraged to participate as members of the association. For more information about FVCC’s student veteran programs, visit fvcc.edu/veterans-center.
