The Flathead Valley Community College Board of Trustees is the governing body of the college. Trustees are charged with the primary responsibilities of establishing college policies and selecting a President to administer the operations of the institution.
The seven Trustees are elected by the citizens of Flathead County and serve three-year terms on a rotating basis, with elections held yearly on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in May.

Meetings of the Flathead Valley Community College Board of Trustees occur monthly on Mondays at 3:45pm in the Boardroom, Blake Hall, FVCC Kalispell campus. The meeting schedule is below.

Kelly Dowling Stimpson, J.D. has served on the FVCC Board of Trustees since January 2016. In her professional capacity, she has represented and provided legal advice to public school districts for more than 16 years. Prior to that, she had a general litigation practice with a focus on insurance defense, banking and securities fraud litigation. While practicing in Mississippi, Kelly coached the Tupelo High School tennis team and volleyball team to three state championships. Kelly matriculated at Stanford University and Brigham Young University and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law. Currently, she is Associate General Counsel of Logan Health. Kelly and her husband, Dr. Kim Stimpson, reside in Bigfork and have five children and many grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities, sports and baking.
A Montana native, Callie Langohr was elected to the Flathead Valley Community College Board of Trustees in 2015. She is a retired Kalispell Public Schools Assistant Superintendent. Callie worked in the school district for twenty-nine years prior to her retirement in June 2022. During her tenure with the district Callie was a Flathead High School principal and served as the first principal of Glacier High School.
Callie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a Physical Science minor from Montana State University. Her Master of Education in Career Guidance and Counseling is from Montana State University Northern. Prior to her public education service, Callie and her husband were owner/operators of a Montana McDonald’s franchise. She started her career with McDonald’s Corporation in 1976 and sold the franchise in 1993.
Travis Steindorf joined the FVCC Board of Trustees in May of 2022. Travis is a 4th generation Montanan growing up in the Mission Valley. He graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He is the owner of Glacier Appraisal and has been an appraiser in the valley since 2003. Additionally, he is a member of Daybreak Rotary and currently serves on the board. Travis, his wife Rachel, and their two kids enjoy hiking and exploring Montana as well as spending time on Flathead Lake.
Pete Akey, FVCC Board Trustee | 2017-Present
Pete Akey has served on the FVCC Board of Trustees since May 2017. Born and raised in Whitefish, Pete is a graduate of Whitefish High School and the University of Montana. As a member of the Montana Army National Guard since 1999, Pete has been deployed overseas several times. Pete is the Commercial Loan Department Manager for Glacier Bank and has served in various roles for the company over the last decade. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flathead County and the Montana Ambassadors. Pete, his wife and their three children live in Whitefish and enjoy all that Montana has to offer.
Mary Ruby, FVCC Board Trustee | 2022-Present
Mary Ruby was elected to the FVCC Board of trustees by acclamation. She has lived in the Flathead Valley for over 40 years, is married to her husband Alan and has raised 3 children. She served 6 terms on the School District #5. She retired from that board in 2018.
Patrick Gulick joined the FVCC Board of Trustees in 2020. He was born in Columbia Falls and raised in Whitefish. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in exercise science at Montana State University in 1996 and then graduated from the University of Montana with a master’s degree in physical therapy in 1998. Patrick is Co-owner and President of OrthoRehab Physical Therapy. He is Vice President of the Board of Directors at both KidSports and GameFace Sports, the later a non-profit that benefits local high schools. Patrick is married to Stephanie and has three children.
